Nordhausen - With almost 800 employees, Schachtbau is the largest industrial company in Nordhausen. Thanks to its current 49 trainees, the company, which is part of the BAUER Group, is also one of the largest training companies in the region. For many years, Schachtbau has been offering high-quality training in the fields of metal and electrical engineering, mining and construction, and always has a high level of new recruits.
Around 30 apprentices become part of the Schachtbau family every year and benefit from the good training structures with full-time trainers and practical supervisors in the individual areas. Throughout the entire training period, the aim is to maintain a close link to practice, as training takes place in the training workshop on the one hand, while practical assignments in the workshops and on construction sites of SCHACHTBAU NORDHAUSEN GmbH or the BAUER Group are also an integral part of the training. The cooperation of the experienced teaching staff and numerous other measures, in addition to remuneration regulated by a company collective agreement, have continuously led to the optimization and improvement of the training image.
After a successful apprenticeship, there is always a realistic chance of remaining with the company and finding a professional and personal perspective within SCHACHTBAU NORDHAUSEN GmbH or the BAUER Group.
Schachtbau's trainees speak for themselves and proudly project their positive image to the outside world, because at the end of their training period they are regularly among the best in their year and often achieve remarkable results. This commitment and the skills they have learned are also evident in their participation in various regional and national contests, such as "Jugend schweißt". In 2023, Schachtbau apprentice Jonas Henning became German runner-up in TIG welding.
In February 2024, he and 13 other young skilled workers and one young female skilled worker received their final certificates. Thomas Gottwald, Head of Vocational Training, reports proudly: "We were able to make all graduates an offer of an employment contract." And so all of them have already found their new field of work, most of them within the company: for example, the stainless steel production in Hesseröder Straße is supported by a metalworker, as are the steel construction and steel construction renovation by two welders. A cutting machine operator will join the mechanical engineering team in the mechanical production department of the BMA Schachtbau Nordhausen plant as a CNC drilling and milling machine operator. The mining division is also pleased to welcome a new colleague, as the skills of an electronics technician are in demand here. In addition, two young skilled workers have found a new field of activity at sister company GWE. Year after year, new skilled workers support their experienced colleagues - and the Group benefits from well-trained specialists in the long term.
The company recognized over a hundred years ago that the qualification of employees is a strategic instrument for covering its own need for skilled workers in the long term and has therefore always trained young people for its own ranks and continuously optimized its training. Against this background, the company has already received several awards from the Chamber of Industry and Commerce as an "outstanding training company".
